Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Scientific and Technical Information (OSTI)
For years, we have operated the Department of Energy's Office of Scientific and Technical Information Clearinghouse. OSTI's role is to access, manage, secure, and share scientific information from some of the leading research laboratories in the world. IIa helped to develop Science.gov, which provides one-point access to government funded research and serves as the U.S. representative to the larger collaborative effort WorldWideScience.org. IIa has recently completed a project for OSTI involving a move to open-source software which has resulted in an annual savings of $100,000.
"[IIa] has consistently delivered exceptionally high quality services and product development which exceed contract requirements...."
U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
We have partnered with USGS for more than 15 years in planning, designing, and developing the National Biodiversity Information Infrastructure (NBII). From policies to standards to web systems, our expertise has helped USGS operate comprehensive biodiversity information systems. IIa transformed data entry which has resulted in faster and more efficient operations. We developed taxonomies and a federated database so that users may easily search disparate data sources. One of our most recent projects for the NBII has been the development of a searchable image retrieval system utilizing comprehensive metadata, rigorous methodology for data entry and quality assurance, and a well-defined process that may be easily replicated and followed as the catalog and image database grows.
"...your team can sense the future environment, both policy and technical, and mobilize to provide new insights in the ways we approached goals and our products and services."
NASA Goddard Space Flight Center
For the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, IIa digitized and organized research that was, in effect, lost to the scientific community when it was boxed or physically warehoused. We developed and implemented an images database to house more than 1,000 images from NASA missions and projects. We also created a digital asset system to provide access to all data types with one search.
"Your provision of innovative and cost-effective solutions represents exceptional performance in the are of knowledge capture, access and use over a significant period of time."
