AAAS Elects IIa’s Rumble as 2007 Fellow

Oak Ridge, TN.–Information International Associates is proud to announce that Dr. John R. Rumble, IIa’s Vice President of Technical Operations, has been elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Election as a Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. Rumble was elected for his “distinguished contributions in the improvement of the quality and accessibility of scientific and technical data through the application of modern information technology.”

AAAS is the world’s largest general scientific society, whose mission is to “advance science and serve society” through initiatives in science policy; international programs; science education; and more. AAAS publishes Science, a peer-reviewed general science journal with an estimated total readership of 1 million around the globe.

Rumble, who joined IIa in 2004, worked for 25 years developing scientific and technical database standards for the federal government, including an international standard for industrial data exchange. In 1996, he was elected to the Executive Committee of International CODATA (Committee on Data for Science and Technology), which represents the national academies of the world. He received the distinguished Co-DATA Prize in 2006 for being “an innovator in the world of scientific and technical data.” In addition, he is a Fellow of the American Society for Testing and Materials, ASM International, and the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry. He received U.S. Department of Commerce Silver Medal and was a Department of Commerce Fellow working in the Office of Science and Technology Policy in the Executive Office of the President.
