Scientific and Technical Informatics
IIa works with clients to integrate scientific and technical information and information technology products into existing architectures, infrastructures, and strategic plans. Our scientific and technical informatics staff provide expertise to design, implement, and disseminate web-based and individual-use scientific data systems. Our experts have worked in the fields of physics, chemistry, materials, engineering, biodiversity, and biotechnology informatics. We provide

Our staff also provide IT support to develop and manage classified systems for handling DOE scientific and technical information and subject matter experts for content review and classification control.

- developing an image retrieval system with OAI metadata
- developing digital archive plans
- creating electronic taxonomies and thesauri for improved access and retrieval
- developing complex mapping systems to support integrated collection access
